The juror Aivars Zandbergs a member of the International Watercolor Plein-Air and other council member such as Wilma Manning and Anne LaBrode has awarded Ian with first place for his watercolor. This was the first time Ian has entered a juried watercolor expedition.
Water is an active and complex partner in the watercolor painting process, changing both the absorbency and shape of the paper when it is wet and the outlines and appearance of the paint as it dries. This is why I choose the “Koi” to practice my technique.
